Im fed up with eBays fees, not to mention paypal..Considering the major players/collectors are here and odyssey2/videopac is specialist I think figures for auctioned rarities at least would reflect the price you would get on ebay, we all know we get the same faces bidding on the good stuff.

the less rare stuff you could put a fair start price on to ensure your goods got a fair price.

if I was to bother putting a VIDEOPAC/Magnavox Odyssey 2 auction site here would you use it and what would be your concerns..

all opinions welcome.

Richard,

Thanks to our agreement! We have managed to get VP things quite cheap and I think that Ebay is probably where we are going to get most of our stuff. I think I would only use your auction site if something really came up that I couldnt get on Ebay. All our collections have improved markedly from the agreement, this auction site might start to inflate prices again.

Just my 2cents

hi richard and gamers!!
well i agree about the fees.. there never ending.. and they go up every year, if we could make a aution on videopac/Magnavox Odyssey 2 i think it would be a + but you'll never beat the oddites that pop up on E-bay and basically there the people that dont know what they have, nevermind the value of what there selling, i got some things selling on E- bay now..Screenname>(MASTERJEDICHRIS) and i just paid my sellers fees and it hurts every month,it never evens out, i pay more than i make.. and i had a run in with paypal also a month ago, paypal claims its my responsibility to put insurance on a item(meaning get the money from the buyer)because if i dont and it gets lost or damaged i have to refund the money NOT FAIR! i sold some Audi seats for $800 they got damaged in the shippment he put a claim in and after fighting for a month telling them "i offered the insurance and he didn't want to pay" and paypal taking $800.00 out of my account untill it was over, the end result i had to settle for $400 and he kept the seats, i feel it was handled poorly, paypal sent me no pics of the damage or did a assesment from a outside sorce.. i was pissed off a lost of $400 so im careful now what i sell and buy, paypal is convenience but a ass ache too.. thats my thoughts on E-bay-paypal.. i hope we can sell trade and buy from this site i feel it would be a better deal all together for everybody!!..good luck Richard !!

Well, some folks here may have come to aggreements on ebay, but I know I have not. Every damn sale that I want gets blown high - in $$$ - due to some collector wanting it so badly. If it was put here, I think the same thing would happen.

Thus, I'm kind of nuetral here - it would be nice - but I don't think it would help much.

I do agree with all points.

we always want the best price for our stuff, and eBay has more people so more potential bidders and a higher price.

and so with anything I sold I would place it there...but, with videopac stuff, its the same people bidding on the more unusual items (amongst ourtselves), when we see something like alienstatics N60 just now, you know (99%) its going to be one of us that buy it, and so alienstatics going to pay eBay god knows how much 10 easily.

for thos against I would consider (if the aution site goes ahead) setting a reserve, try it for a week here, if it doesnt sell put it on eBay, what have you lost ??

O3 - you have my deepest sympathy as you know Ive just been through the exact same thing, only my item went missing entirely, (so the buyer says)..!

I have now switched from paypal to moneybookers, which has some distinct advantages fo sellers over paypal, its a case of paypal are the biggest but far from the best, but you have to stick to what everyone else uses...and they milk us for it but heres some benefits of moneybookers.

http://www.moneybookers.com/app/?rid=3103191

1. BUYER PAYS FEES not seller !!
2. Get paid for referals "You receive 30% of all fee income earned from each progeny(introduced user) limited to EUR 100 during the first year after registration."
3. WITHDRAW TO !!! your credit card.

I have always been very eager to promote this site and I would love to f**k eBay off purely because we have to pay silly fees, I paid PAYPAL 10 for simple letting a buyer pay 260 into my account!!! (WHAT THE FUUCCCKKKK)!!! If we could keep prices low then I would even be prepared to pay Richard a little for the upkeep of the site. Perhaps we could entice all VPer's out there to sell here first?

cheers andy,, I would like it to make money somehow...so any referals I can get I appreciate, but I will not ever charge for any aspect of the site.
the autions would be entirely free.

Well all my stuff for sale is listed here anyway, I've not started selling extra videopac stuff back on ebay yet and dont have any immediate plans to do so. We have a marketplace section, personally I dont see the need for an auction section.

How about a more simple listing section with search capability? I occasionally use a site for coins http://www.onlinecoins.co.uk/ that might translate well to videopacs, and other '3rd party' stuff. It might also give you the opportunity to take a small percentage of any transactions, which I would be happy to pay.
