I live in a two bed semi, you think I have space to collect other consoles
Apart from a trunk with my old C64 and games in it, I only have videopac consoles.
I do still have 5 PCs and as many laptops if that counts... Used to be worse but I sold some after getting rid of the rack It didn't go with the other front room furniture.

Here's what I have (less than I had a year ago - I am cutting down on what I collect):
Atari 2600 - various models (have around 6-8 of these)
Atari 5200 - 2 and 4-port models
Atari 7800 -model w/ and without expansion port
Atari Jaquar (w/CD unit)
Atari Lynx - old and new models (have around 12 of these)
Arcadia 2001
Bally (Astrocade) - regular, and Red sears models
Colecovision
Genesis - original, model 2, and model 3 units
Intellivision - model I only (have around 6 of these)
Nintendo 64
Nintendo DS (both model - 3 total so far)
Nintendo Game Boy
Nintendo GBA SP
Nintendo GC
Nintendo Wii
Odyssey2 (over 12 of these)
Philips - G7000, 7200 and 7400
Sony Playstation 1
Vectrex
Computers:
Commodore 128
Timex/Sinclair 1000/1500 (ZX81)
T/S 2068
Apple IIe, IIgs
Macintosh (many, many models - over 40+ at last count). |
Thats a pretty impressive amount of computers and consoles. I see we have a Apple Computer collector on these boards!
I personally don't like Macs (I am a Windows guy) but I remember them in my elementary school as a kid (older models), and I really enjoyed playing all of the games and art programs. (Back then, Macs had a lot of games.)

I forgot i also have an apple LCIII.
Since last year we've gotton ourself an imac 20" and a macbook, because my wife is photographer.
I think my next computer will ba a mac aswell. I don't like playing games on the pc anymore. It just costs to much to keep your pc up to date. That's why i'm going to buy a ps3, then i know that i can play all the new games for the next 6 or 7 years from now.

I like the way seob thinks. I like Mac for what I can do on it - and playing games is not a big thing - even though it does have it's share of decent games.
I've got a Wii and other systems for the so-called real games.
Plus, I've used WIndows and Mac, and made my choice years ago - funny - with the LCIII too, back in 1991.
No issue with Windows though. Each to their own. I just don't like Gates (don't ask why, I just do).

Of course, to each his own. Macs are pretty secure, especially being based on UNIX, and not being primarily targeted by hackers, I like Windows becuase it can do what I want it to, and for me, it just gives me the computer experience I desire.
My friend has a Wii, I don't like the shooters with the Wii controls, but I love playing the Bowling game! For some reason I can always beat my friends at bowling!
In elementary Macs is all we used, they were the first computers I ever used, we had tons of fun on them machines, the games were awesome, I remember Gizmo's and Gadgets, and some other game with a guy that goes in a building with a zapper weapon, and in some rooms in the buildings an electrical cord attacks you! Oh, the memories.
Somewhat recently, I was sneaking around that same school during an event, and I made my way into this storage room in the basement, it was very dark, but I could make out rows, and rows of shelves with a large number of older macs lines up on them, I would say, over twenty, but its sort of been some time so I don't remember how many their were. They looked even older than the macs I used when I went there, they were smaller also, possibly...they were Macintosh Classic II's.
I am thinking I should go back to the school and ask the head administrator if I could have those machines, or maybe get a deal on them, they will never be used again there. I don't have a real interest in collecting computers (just building and maintaining/updating them) but I know that people love to collect that kind of stuff like you do Ozyr, if I ever get my hands on them, I'll be sure to let you know Ozyr.

Well, if you live in the States (?), let me know what happens. I'm always on the lookout for machines to add to my collection. Last year I only added two older iMacs to the collection. Being low on money now doesn't help.
I've got a friend at a publishing company that sells there stuff real cheap every 3 or so years. I've gotten about 1/10 of my stuff that way.
As for the Wii, I've been playing that thing every single day. Love it.
Yes, bowling is the best of the so-called built in games. (I almost got a perfect score last light - 10 strikes in a row - they goofed on the 2nd last throw ).
I did order a memory card to start getting a few of the downloadable games. Too bad they'll never have O'2/VP games available!
Also been really enjoying Super Paper Mario. Cool game.
When my job situation improves (soon, I hope), I'll be getting more games for the Wii.
Game on!

I, too, might be interested in a Mac Classic II. I'm not really a collector, but I just like the old macs. I currently have a IIsi, Powerbook 520c, Quadra 605, 2 Quadra 950s, Clamshell iBook and a MacBook. I really didn't set out to collect these, just couldn't see my past employers throwing them out, so I had to take them.
Incidentally, the Quadra 605 was my first internet capable machine Running AOL 3 and Netscape 3, with a blazing 33.3 modem.

Yeah I live in the States. I am not sure when I will ask the admins at the school about the macs though, I will likely do it at the next big event there, sometime later this year. Hopefully they will just give all or many of them to me. Whatever happens I will let the both of you know.
Thats impressive on the Wii bowling, I like it becuase its the only game I am good at on the Wii, and its just fun. I never got used to the motion controls on any other game yet.

Yeah I also hate seeing people waste perfectly good technology when all the owner is doing is just upgrading to something else. I try my best to nab whatever they are throwing away usually, if I remotely like or want what they are wasting. I remember seeing a picture of this guy who goes "dumpster diving" and he had literally stacks of computer towers and monitors all about the area of the photograph, he found them all in dumpsters, I assume most or all work, and if not, they shouldn't be to hard to fix most of the time. It was pretty amazing to think people just threw them all away. One man's trash, is another man's treasure. (I had to throw that corny line in there.)

Thanks! I personally couldn't believe the 10 Strikes in a row myself. Best I normally get is around 3-6 (4 being the average in a set of 3 games). For the 10, I just kept getting great shots - and kept thinking 'wow!' When I missed the 2nd last Strike, I was a little bummed out - great score - but a perfect for just once would have been just too cool.
As you said though, great game for the Wii. I'm curious how the upcoming 'Brunswick Pro Bowling' by Crave Enterainment will be!? I'll wait on reviews of that game before I decide to buy it - I've gotten burned on too many games thinking they'll be good (and they turn out to be junk).

Yeah, I think I found a good technique with the Wii bowling, I just keep my controller perfectly (as best as I can) in line with the sensor, and pull back and whip it forward as straight as I can get it, and that usually lands me a strike, I think the best I have gotten so far is 2-3 strikes in a row, its my friend's Wii, so I don't play it that often. I believe Brunswick is a good name for bowling related items, so hopefully a lot of good work will be put into that game to make it awesome.
